Respiratory
Within the surgery we offer multiple different appointments related to respiratory. Some of these appointments are spirometry test, asthma reviews and COPD reviews.
A spirometry test is a simple test that is used to help diagnose and monitor certain lung conditions, this is done by measuring how much air you can breathe out in one forced breath. This is done by using a device called a spirometer. The test will be completed by taking a deep breath and then blowing into the spirometer, this will be done at least three forced blows and three relaxed blows, this means that an appointment can take up to 50 minutes.
Asthma and COPD reviews are often requested as part of a review which is unique to each patient, these will be done within the surgery a member of our respiratory team. As part of the review, they may go over some breathing exercises, or they may discuss the different medication that is taken.
