Immunisations and Vaccinations.
Vaccinations are the most effective way to prevent many infectious diseases. They work by teaching a body's immune system how to create antibodies that protect you from disease. These help to boost your immune system. The World Health Organization lists vaccine hesitancy as one of the biggest threats to global health.
At Greyfriars we are committed to supporting our patients and endeavouring to protect against illnesses such as Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Haemophilus Influenzas (Hib), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Meningitis B, Meningitis C, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Rotavirus, Shingles, Flu, Pneumococcal, Hepatitis B.
These vaccines are administered by our practice nurses.
Early immunisation and subsequent boosters will offer your children the best protection against some of the above diseases. Routine vaccinations are free on the NHS and are both safe and very effective.
New born babies are seen by the GP at 8 weeks old. After this they will begin the UK's immunisation schedule (see below):

Our Baby clinics are held on Tuesday mornings by appointment only. You should receive a letter in the post with a time and date for your child's appointment approximately two weeks before they are due to come in.
Nasal Flu vaccinations are offered on an annual basis to patients aged between 2 to 17 years. This will mostly be administered in schools.
If you have any questions regarding immunisations, please call the surgery.
