We have been working hard to create a new display board that you can find in the Surgery on the ground floor. This display is regarding the Brain. People often get confused about the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia and, together with vascular dementia, makes up the majority of cases. Dementia is a syndrome (a group of related symptoms) associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning. There are many different causes of dementia, and many different types.
There are many different opportunities to find support if you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, some of the options available are Lincolnshire Talking Therapies who can be rung on 0303 123 4000, or the Mind Charity who can be found online to offer information and support. Alternatively, the GP can refer you to be supported by the Community Mental Health Team. NHS urgent mental health helplines are for people of all ages. You can call 0800 001 4331 for:
- 24-hour advice and support – for you, your child, your parent or someone you care for
- help to speak to a mental health professional
- an assessment to help decide on the best course of care
Most people feel stressed sometimes and some people find stress helpful or even motivating. But if stress is affecting your life, there are things you can try that may help.
Connect with people. A good support network of colleagues, friends and family can ease your work troubles and help you see things in a different way. The activities we do with friends can help us relax and relieve stress. Talking things through with a friend may also help you find solutions to your problems.
Have some "me time". Many of us work long hours, meaning we often don't spend enough time doing things we really enjoy. It's important to take some time for socialising, relaxation or exercise. You could try setting aside a couple of nights a week for some quality "me time" away from work.
